Single Family New Construction Program - Round 3

Skogman Homes was approved to build 27 homes in the third round of the City of Cedar Rapids Single Family New Construction Program, offered in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED).

Many of the homes in flood affected neighborhoods have been purchased by the city and  have been demolished, leaving the lot vacant. The goal of this program is to fill in these neighborhoods with new affordable homes and bring life back to these areas. While all of these lots took on water during the 2008 flood - all are outside the 100 year flood plain. 

Qualified buyers receive a 25% grant from the State that is figured off the base price of the home. The grant, totaling as much as $34,900, is in the form of a 5 year forgivable loan at 20% a year. 

Buyers must meet the following income requirements to qualify:  

80% of Median Income: 1 person household - $38,300   2 person household - $43,800   3 person household - $49,250

100% of Median Income: 1 person household - $47,900   2 person household - $54,800  3 person household - $61,600
